Region III Championships

1978, 1979, 1980

In 2007, Herkimer volleyball began carving out their place as a regional contender under the direction of Coach Kristy Lynch.  After taking the helm, Lynch led the team to increase the win record by 100%, later receiving the Mountain Valley Conference Coach of The Year Award!  The Lady Generals enjoy success both on the court and off, with numerous athletes receiving academic awards and the Presidential Scholarship.  Our program readily offers athletes an opportunity to compete at the college level, greatly increasing their statistics and level of competitive play, translating into maximum marketability to four year schools.  While propelling her team towards the top one match at a time, Coach Lynch conducts a disciplined practice regimen consisting of high intensity drills and game like play, pushing the limits of her athletes both physically and mentally.   The result is a well executed, high powered offense coupled with a commanding defense.

The season starts in late August with daily double sessions up until the start of classes. Following are daily single session practices for the remainder of the season.  All practices are designed to maximize skill level, hone offensive and defensive plays, tighten transitioning and further develop mental aspects of the game.  Our facility offers athletes valuable resources that are available immediately for necessary physical conditioning.  In addition to a fitness and cardio circuit, there is a weight room, hiking trails, an indoor track, pool for aquatic training and a recreation gym.

Our off season begins in mid-November and entails a weight training program to keep our athletes in top physical condition.  The team meets on a regular basis in the Spring season to practice and compete, ending with a tournament in May.  This is a critical component of keeping our athletes prepared for competition,  focusing on fundamentals and continued weight training.

Herkimer Volleyball provides its athletes with a pro-active,  "blueprint for success," designed for maximum achievement academically and in competition.  This blueprint provides training and resources for our student athletes, focusing on both the physical and mental aspects of the sport: strength, nutrition, endurance, academics, focus,  and visualization.

MAIN GYMNASIUM

The Main Gymnasium at Herkimer County Community College is one of the top gymnasiums in Region III.   We play our home Basketball and Volleyball contests here.  The intimate setting and favorable acoustics is what make the main gym a true home court advantage.  The main gym is also the primary gymnasium for our Physical Education classes.  We also hold many high school contests and community events in the Varsity Gym.   These events include high school sectional playoffs games, wrestling and karate tournaments along with musical bands.  The main gym prides is self on hosting Herkimer County Community College's annual commencement.  The main gym holds a capacity of just under 2000 people.
