Michaela Ponticello, 2022 May Athlete of the Month

Herkimer College has announced its Green and Gold Athletes of the month of May. They are, baseball player Greg Farone (Schenectady, NY) and softball player Michaela Ponticello (Gloversville, NY).

Michaela Ponticello had a stellar season for the Generals, leading the offense in batting average, Home runs, runs, on base percentage and walks. In addition she finished second in doubles, triples, base hits and third in runs batted in. Ponticello exploded in the Region 3B championship, going 4-5 on the day with 4 runs scored and 3 RBI’s. Ponticello totaled 10 bases that afternoon, hitting a double, triple and a home run to send the Generals to their 10^th straight World Series. Head Coach PJ Anadio said, “We saw the best of Michaela Ponticello down the stretch of the season and in our playoff run. Her tireless work ethic and complete dedication to the game, the program and especially her teammates proved to be the difference! She's exactly the type of student athlete that we strive to bring into this program is the epitome of what a Herkimer General should be. Her mark and legacy has been left on this program forever And we wish Michaela the very best in her journey”. Michaela was named 1^st team All Region and has accepted a Division II Athletic Scholarship to Francis Marion, for the fall of 2022.
