Sophomore faceoff specialist Leonardo Checo has been named the Herkimer Generals Green & Gold Athlete of the Month for March after a dominant stretch against some of the top teams in the country.

Checo controlled possession at an elite level, winning 65% of his faceoffs while collecting 50 ground balls during the month. He also contributed offensively, adding three goals to his impressive all-around performance.

His standout play earned him both NJCAA Athlete of the Week and Region III Athlete of the Week honors, recognizing his impact on a national and regional level.

Checo’s ability to consistently win possession and set the tempo has been instrumental in the Generals’ success, as he continues to set the pace for the team.
