The Herkimer Generals baseball team battled through a tough doubleheader against Cayuga Community College but came up short in both contests.
In Game 1, the Generals showed flashes of offensive production despite the loss. Brandon Hauk led the way with two hits, helping to generate scoring opportunities throughout the game. Jude Flint provided a big contribution at the plate with three RBIs, driving in the bulk of Herkimer's runs and keeping the team within reach. TJ Lemonis also crossed the plate for a run, but the Generals were unable to overcome Cayuga's steady offense.
Game 2 saw Herkimer continue to compete, though the result remained the same. Christian Mikulski paced the offense with two hits and two RBIs, once again delivering in key moments. Kyle Kristel added a run as the Generals looked to build momentum, but Cayuga maintained control and completed the doubleheader sweep.
Despite the pair of losses, Herkimer had multiple players step up offensively across both games. The Generals will look to tighten up defensively and capitalize on scoring chances as they aim to bounce back in their next outings.
