The Herkimer College baseball team put together an impressive all-around performance during a four-game series against SUNY Adirondack, winning all four contests by a combined score of 34-4.
The Generals opened the series on April 16 with a hard-fought 4-2 comeback victory on the road. Trailing 2-0 entering the fifth inning, Herkimer rallied behind timely hitting and strong pitching. Brandon Hauk delivered a two-RBI single to tie the game before Christian Mikulski added an RBI hit later in the inning. Kyle Kristel and Hauk each drove in runs in the sixth to give the Generals the lead for good.
Adam Weiss led the offense with two hits, while Nicholas DiMichele added a double. Brendan Rusnack earned the win after allowing just two runs over six innings with five strikeouts, and Justin Peralta closed the door with a scoreless seventh inning to collect the save.
Herkimer's offense exploded in Game 2 as the Generals rolled to a 12-2 victory. The bats came alive early with a three-run first inning followed by a six-run second inning that put the game out of reach.
Christian Mikulski powered the offense with a home run, three RBIs, and three runs scored, while Brandon Hauk added a two-run homer and finished with two hits and two RBIs. Kyle Kristel recorded three hits and two RBIs, and Landon Stichbury collected two hits in the win.
On the mound, Kyler Ackert earned the victory with three innings of work before Donatello Badalamenti dominated in relief, striking out five over three scoreless innings.
The series shifted to Herkimer on April 18, where the Generals continued their dominance with an 8-0 shutout in Game 3. Herkimer scored five runs in the opening inning and never looked back.
Nicholas DiMichele led the offense with two hits and two RBIs, while Mack Harris added two RBIs and Cooper Rowell chipped in an RBI hit. Kyle Kristel scored twice and Adam Weiss added an RBI single.
Justin Peralta started on the mound and tossed five scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while striking out five. Luka Abell finished the shutout effort with two clean innings in relief.
The Generals completed the sweep with a 10-0 run-rule victory in the series finale. Adam Weiss paced the offense with three hits, including a two-run home run, and finished with four RBIs. Brandon Hauk scored twice and drove in a run, while Jude Flint and Cooper Rowell each added RBI singles.
Herkimer once again jumped out quickly, scoring four runs in the first inning and four more in the second to seize complete control.
Landon Seipp earned the win after striking out five over three scoreless innings. Hunter Harmon, Ryder Herchenroder, and Elijah Lewis combined to finish off the shutout as the pitching staff limited SUNY Adirondack to just two hits.
Over the four-game sweep, Herkimer's pitching staff allowed only four total runs while the offense produced 38 hits and several key extra-base hits, continuing the Generals' strong stretch of play.
