The Herkimer Generals men's lacrosse team came up short over spring break in a hard-fought matchup against the College of DuPage, falling despite several standout individual performances.
Herkimer showed flashes of offensive rhythm throughout the contest, led by Lenox Richard, who paced the Generals with three goals. Richard consistently found openings in the defense and kept Herkimer within striking distance, especially during a second-half push that briefly shifted momentum.
Playmaking duties were anchored by Ryan Della Rocco, who contributed two key assists. His vision and timing helped generate some of Herkimer's best scoring opportunities, particularly during unsettled situations where the Generals looked most dangerous.
In goal, Teddy Friend turned in an impressive performance despite the loss, recording 18 saves. Under constant pressure, Friend kept the Generals competitive with a series of clutch stops, including multiple point-blank saves that prevented the game from getting out of reach.
At the faceoff X, Leo Checo delivered a strong effort, collecting 10 ground balls and helping Herkimer maintain possession in critical stretches. His work in the middle of the field provided valuable opportunities for the Generals' offense to reset and attack.
Despite these contributions, Herkimer struggled to contain DuPage's offense over four quarters, ultimately leading to the spring break setback. The Generals will look to regroup and build on the individual performances as they return to regular-season play.
