The Herkimer Generals men's lacrosse team delivered a dominant performance in their win over Tompkins Cortland Community College, powered by an explosive outing from Ryan Hoyt and strong play across the field.
Hoyt was the centerpiece of the Generals' offense, putting together a remarkable 11-point game with six goals and five assists. He dictated the pace from the opening whistle, finding the back of the net in a variety of ways while also setting up teammates with precise feeds. Whether initiating from behind the cage or in transition, Hoyt proved nearly impossible to contain.
Herkimer's offense flowed efficiently throughout the game, capitalizing on possessions created at the faceoff X. Leo Checo played a crucial role in that effort, scooping up 13 ground balls and consistently giving the Generals control after the whistle. His work allowed Herkimer to sustain pressure and limit Tompkins Cortland's opportunities to build momentum.
In goal, Teddy Friend provided a steady presence, finishing with five saves. While not heavily tested, Friend came up with timely stops when needed and helped organize the defense to keep Tompkins Cortland in check.
The Generals controlled the tempo for much of the contest, using their depth and execution to pull away and secure the win. With a performance like this, Herkimer continues to build confidence as they move forward in the season.
