Win streak snapped at home to Cannoneers
(Nicole Evans had two goals on Wednesday, both in the first half).

HERKIMER, NY – Going into Thursday's game against Jefferson the Herkimer Generals Women's Lacrosse team hadn't allowed double digit goals in their previous four matches. The Cannoneers tallied 15 goals at Wehrum Stadium to snap the streak, winning 15-9.
Herkimer 4-4 (2-0) managed to claw back from an early 2-0 deficit on goals from sophomores Courtney Canavan (Baldwinsville, NY) and Emilie Coufal (Syracuse, NY). Canavan's second goal, her 30th of the season, gave Herkimer a brief 3-2 lead with 18:51 left in the first half.
The Cannoneers answered with six unanswered goals to make it 8-3 with 8:58 left in the half. Then Nicole Evans (Cortland, NY) got in the mix scoring two goals in three minutes to cut the deficit to 8-5. It was Evans 21st and 22nd goals of the season.
Scoring the final goal of the half was Alexis Caughey (Cortland, NY) on an assist from Coufal, who finished the match with three assists. It was Caughey's only goal of the game, making the score at half 8-6.
In the second half, Jefferson scored five unanswered goals in 17 minutes. It gave the Cannoneers a seven goal lead (14-7), the largest of the game, seeing Herkimer get outscored 7-3 in the second half. Scoring in the second half for Herkimer was Canavan and Coufal.
In goal for the Generals was Kristin Menge (Warwick, NY). She saved 21 shots for her team.
Herkimer's next match is Saturday. It will be their final home game of the season. They'll host No. 1 ranked Monroe Community College at Wehrum Stadium. Play is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
